Biotin (Vitamin B7)

Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin that is naturally present in some foods. It was previously known as vitamin H and is the more common name for vitamin B7. It plays an important role in cellular metabolism.

Biotin for hair

Hair is a protein fiber containing a protein called keratin. And since keratin is composed of the amino acids cysteine and methionine, it is no surprise that biotin is good for hair.

Effects of biotin

Biotin promotes hair growth and thickness, and the body uses it to produce fatty acids and glucose. It can also help repair damaged hair follicles. Biotin is also used for hair loss, brittle nails, infant skin rashes (seborrheic dermatitis), and diabetes. When combined with chromium, it is also used for diabetes.
